Soni, a resilient transgender woman from Itawa, Kanpur, has navigated a tumultuous journey with grace and determination. From a young age, Soni grappled with her identity, facing harassment and discrimination both at school and in her community. Despite the lack of support from her family, she found solace and companionship in Delhi, where she embarked on a journey of self-discovery. Despite facing mistreatment in various workplaces, Soni’s spirit remained unbroken.

It was a serendipitous encounter with a fellow transgender friend that led her to embark on a new path, engaging in tolli badhai and other means to sustain herself and her loved ones. However, Soni’s life took a pivotal turn upon discovering the SET course offered by Centum Foundation at the HDFC Skill Development Centre. This opportunity promises Soni a chance at dignified employment, providing her with the means to support her family without compromising her self-worth.
