The joint venture between NTT Data Services and Centum Foundation has taken a significant leap with the launch of ‘Tech Josei’, a project designed to bridge the gender gap in technology. On November 23rd and 24th, 2023, this innovative initiative commenced in Pune and Bangalore, targeting 50 female candidates in each city, hailing from Tier II and Tier III cities.
‘Tech Josei’ – meaning ‘Women in Technology’ in Japanese – is meticulously crafted to cater to final year female students from engineering (B.Tech in CSE, IT, ECE), BCA, and BSc (CS/IT) backgrounds. The program focuses on Data Analysis in Pune and Cybersecurity in Bangalore, two fields at the forefront of the tech revolution. Selection criteria prioritized candidates from rural, urban-rural, economically backward, and underprivileged sectors with family incomes below 5 LPA, ensuring the program reaches those most in need.
This initiative stands as a powerful testament to NTT Data Services and Centum Foundation’s dedication to fostering gender equality in the tech sector. By equipping these women with in-demand tech skills, ‘Tech Josei’ is not just providing education; it’s offering a transformative experience that opens doors to lucrative and fulfilling careers in technology.
The launch event was a celebration of hope, opportunity, and empowerment. As these women embark on their educational journey, they symbolize the breaking of societal barriers and the forging of a new path for women in technology.
‘Tech Josei’ is more than a training program; it’s a movement towards creating an inclusive and diverse tech industry. The initiative promises to nurture future tech leaders, ensuring that women have a prominent place at the table in the world of technology. As these candidates progress through their training, they are not just honing their technical skills; they are becoming pioneers in their communities, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps and reshape the narrative of women in technology.
