Employability Enhancement for young girls & women

Objectives

The objective of this project is to provide employability enhancement training to over 8,000 candidates, focusing, specifically on women. By centering on women’s empowerment, the initiative aims to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their job prospects. This effort is designed to promote gender equality and support the economic upliftment of women, helping them secure better employment opportunities.

Target Beneficiaries

The program targets individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Challenge

  • Mobilization: We encountered challenges in mobilizing candidates due to geographical disadvantages.
  • Placement: There were delays in placements primarily because fresh graduates lacked sufficient experience.
  • Female Candidates: Female candidates faced difficulties with night shifts at the workplace, posing a significant challenge to their employment.
  • Strategy

We provided flexibility to candidates by allowing them to choose night shift jobs only if they were comfortable with it. Additionally, we implemented a robust On-the-Job Training (OJT) program to familiarize candidates with the working environment and better prepare them for their roles.

    Journey

  • Mobilization: Targeted outreach in collaboration with local NGOs, educational institutes, and government bodies.
  • Training: A blend of theoretical sessions and practical, hands-on learning in real-world scenarios, culminating in 13,300 beneficiaries trained.
  • Assessment Certifications: Rigorous evaluation leading to NSQF-aligned certifications, emphasizing the program’s quality and relevance.
  • Placement: Strategic partnerships with corporations ensured meaningful employment opportunities through mock interviews and job fairs.
  • Outcome

  • Training & Certification: We achieved 100% of our target, successfully training and certifying over 13,300 beneficiaries.
  • Women Empowerment: We focused on uplifting female candidates and improving their economic conditions, emphasizing their empowerment throughout the project.
  • Challenges & Solutions

Mobilization Improvements: We opened more centers and recruited additional mobilizers who had a good understanding of the candidates and the local geography to enhance mobilization efforts.
Night Shift Flexibility: We ensured that night shift jobs were only offered to candidates who were comfortable with them.
Support for Candidates: For some candidates, travel and food expenses were covered by the organizations they were placed at, which provided significant assistance.
